Engineering Considerations

Specified as a system, not a sheet

Material selection

Polished aluminium is specified as the reflective medium in place of a conventional glass substrate. Reflective performance and surface finish are confirmed against project requirements.

Fixing methodology

Options include concealed fixings and tamper-resistant security fasteners, recessed or surface-mounted. Fixing centres are set to suit the wall substrate and the project risk assessment.

Edge & corner design

Safety-finished edges and radiused corner options reduce accessible perimeter gaps and remove sharp external corners from occupied cells.

Substrate interface

The mirror assembly is engineered to the wall build-up — masonry, partition or board — with a project-specific backing system where the substrate requires it.

Installation tolerances

Dimensions and fixing positions are produced to agreed tolerances to support repeatable installation across houseblocks and refurbishment programmes.

Reflective Performance & Maintenance

A material with its own characteristics

A polished aluminium mirror produces a true, usable reflection but behaves differently from silvered glass. The reflective surface is the metal itself — there is no separate glass layer — so the finish, polish and substrate all contribute to perceived reflectivity.

Surface cleaning uses non-abrasive methods and standard institutional cleaning products. Lumos provides guidance on suitable cleaning and maintenance regimes to preserve reflective performance over the service life of the installation.

For refurbishment programmes, individual panels can be produced to match existing dimensions, allowing direct replacement of legacy mirrors without reworking the wall substrate.

Specific reflective performance figures, test data and photographic references will be added here once verified. Please request technical documentation for current information.

Physical Sample Programme

Request an LSE-CM technical sample

Architects, contractors, consultants and procurement teams can request a polished aluminium mirror sample for technical and project evaluation. Tell us your facility type, areas of use and required dimensions — we will advise on material, fixing methodology and quantity. Response within 48 hours.
