What is a mirror demister pad and how does it work?
A demister pad is a thin resistive heating element bonded to the rear of the mirror glass during manufacture. When powered, it warms the glass surface to a few degrees above ambient temperature — just enough to keep moisture as vapour rather than condensate. The result is a permanently clear mirror, even immediately after a hot shower.
Are demister pads included as standard on Lumos hotel mirrors?
Yes. Demister pads are included as standard on all Lumos hospitality specifications. For residential or commercial orders, they are available as a factory-fitted option on any bespoke mirror size.
What wattage are the demister pads?
Our pads range from 18W to 60W depending on mirror dimensions. They draw minimal power and are designed for continuous operation — there is no need to switch them off.
Can the demister be switched separately from the mirror light?
Yes. Demister pads can be wired to operate with the mirror illumination, independently via a dedicated switch, or via a timer — depending on your installation requirements. We provide the wiring diagram.
Do demister mirrors meet hotel specification standards?
Demister-fitted mirrors are the five-star hotel standard. Our mirrors are used in hotel groups across the UK, Saudi Arabia and Canada. All comply with relevant electrical safety standards and carry CE, UKCA and IP ratings appropriate to the installation zone.
Can I add a demister to a mirror I already have on order?
Demister pads must be fitted during manufacture — they cannot be retrofitted after the mirror is built. Please specify whether you require a demister at the point of enquiry.
